NAPTIME NOTES

Balance

Do you ever find yourself in a rare moment of peace and just start thanking God? Not just for the moment itself, but bigger picture stuff. Floating in the lake the other day I found myself thanking God for His creation. I closed my eyes and imagined how, if just one thing were different, this moment in time couldn’t occur.

I started thanking Him for the water, the trees, the fish and bugs and animals and plants that make the ecosystem thrive. I thanked him for the blue skies and sunshine along with the rain.

In thanking Him for the land and water, sun and clouds, I realized that He has designed a perfect balance to sustain us. Not only has He designed a perfect world, He uniquely designed me to thrive in it.

I then asked God to help me find this balance in my life. To help me create the perfect little “ecosystem” for my family to thrive. To help me understand balance between quiet and noise, messy and clean, work and rest. I realized I need to stop “creating” now and start letting my ecosystem thrive. To let go and give up some control and let me little creations just be in the environment I’ve made for them.

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens

Ecclesiastes 3:1

The kids can’t be grow and be themselves while I’m constantly trying to keep things clean and quiet. There is a time and place for everything, but I can’t make everything can’t happen at the same time.

My float in the lake was cut short because baby girl needed fed. But that 10 minutes of peace and prayer brought me an understanding that I hope will bring some balance to my household and peace in the chaos!

Ecclesiastes 3:1-14
